Itinerary

Days 1 - 4

Selous Game Reserve, Tanzania

Arrive Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Meet Fausto Carbone and board a private charter to Selous Game Reserve. Fed by the Rufiji River, the largest river in East Africa, this reserve is home to over a million large animals and over half of Tanzania's elephant population. Our accommodation, Selous Safari Camp is situated within an open palm forest on the shores of Lake Nzerakera adjoining the great Rufiji River. Game drive through diverse and vast habitat with largest crocodile and hippo populations in Africa.

Days 5 - 7

Ruaha National Park, Tanzania

Private charter to Ruaha National Park, along an ancient arm of the Great Rift Valley. The park possesses one of the largest species counts of large mammal of any other park, lending to exciting game drives. Situated in the southwest portion of Tanzania Ruaha covers a unique transition zone where eastern and southern species of both flora and fauna meet. Among the mammals, the park possesses are elephant, buffalo, zebra, impala, eland, hippo, crocodile, lion and leopard.

Days 8 - 10

Mahale Mountains and Lake Tanganyika, Tanzania

Private charter to Mahale Mountains National Park. Trek to Greystoke Mahale, one of the world's premier locations for observing and photographing chimpanzees. Along the eastern shores of Lake Tanganyika, sheltered by the dense forests of the Mahale Mountains, is the tiny sanctuary of Greystoke Mahale. This setting is home to the world's largest known popoulation of chimpanzees with approximately 1,000 individuals inhabiting the Mahale Mountains National Park.

Greystoke Mahale is within hiking distance of the 60 strong M group, one of the most habituated groups in the world. Each day visitors venture into the forest to observe the chimps. Tracking primates through the forest mountains for the one hour observation time is a once-in-a-lifefime experience.
