Jane Goodall Celebrates Her 80th Birthday Today

Bushtracks Honors the World’s Foremost Champion of Chimpanzees.

Happy Birthday to Jane Morris Goodall!

Born 80 years ago today on 3 April 1934 in London, Jane is considered to be the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees, and is best known for her 45-year study of social and family interactions of wild chimpanzees in Gombe Stream National Park, Tanzania in Eastern Africa.

Shown in the photograph at the top of this page, Bushtracks’ owners Carolyn and David Tett posed with Dr. Jane Goodall, DBE and Dr. Toshisada Nishida at the Leakey Foundation’s Gala on November 1, 2008 at the then newly re-opened California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco. Bushtracks, together with National Geographic, was a proud sponsor of the Leakey Foundation’s 2008 Leakey Prize celebration, honoring the work of Drs. Goodall and Nishida. The Leakey Foundation is the world’s most successful private funder of human evolutionary science.
